Thank You

I originally wanted to make a post to complain about my life. But no one wants to read that. Ever.

Instead, I’ll write a positive post instead. I’ve been lacking optimism and happiness for a long time. But I want to break that cycle by thanking you guys -every single follower- who’s been with me since day 1 or since yesterday, and for enjoying my artwork, and joining me in this weird journey. I am very grateful that you put up with my stuff day in and out.

To many more artistic days. Without you, I guarantee I wouldn’t be here anymore.

Thank you so much.

Hi! I was wondering how to do geometric stuff (like your tyler j. piece) because whenever I try to just wing it it looks really dumb :/

Hi anon! I made a walkthrough of sorts for you! It explains the steps I take when drawing something (i.e.: Tyler)… I dunno if it’s detailed enough, but maybe it’s helpful to be able to see how I draw? If you were looking for something more specific, don’t hesitate to ask!

(Also, I’m not very tumblr savvy or practical, so I made a separate post for the walkthrough, rather than adding it here!)

hey do u have any tips for painting portraits using block triangles/squares (like you do! eg.tyler joseph portrait) ?

hmmmm I never really thought about this anon! Let’s see…. Here are some things I do, and maybe it’ll be helpful?

  • I usually squint a lot when I’m stuck haha. It helps me blur out the details of whatever I’m painting, and forces my eyes to see values and shapes
  • I layer a lot; the brushes I use are really pressure-sensitive. This way I can also get a wider range of colors (esp. when I draw a triangle/square on top of another).
  • Turn my picture upside down! (you can see here why it helps me a lot! That link will describe it better than I ever could)
  • It is never too late to change the way you colored your picture, no matter how far or close to completion! I always spot mistakes from start to finish. And, as an art teacher once said, “If you can’t change your picture, then it’s not worth finishing/saving”
  • Also, patience, patience, patience! Triangles and squares can be a pain in the ass, but if you think you’re doing something cool, then keep at it, because it will look even cooler when you’re done! (And you’ll feel awesome!)

I hope this gave you a little bit of insight, anon? If something is still confusing, if you were looking for something more specific, or even if you would like me to explain using pictures, don’t hesitate to ask!

Have an awesome day!
